I love photographing couples newly engaged.  It is an exciting time for them as they start to plan their wedding and lives together.  I also love to photograph engagement sessions at sunset, a very romantic time of the day.  Max and Tanya chose to have their photos at sunset on Watkins Jetty, Long Jetty, NSW.  Here are a few photos to share with you:

I took these photos of Paul and his friend a few weeks ago on a beautiful winter's afternoon near Norah Head, Central Coast, NSW.   I photograph a lot of outdoor and some indoor photo sessions, whether it is just a couple wanting photos taken together, a family reunion, birthdays, engagements etc.  Here are a few photos which I took for Paul.

Therese and John had a beautiful garden wedding ceremony near the gazebo at Manon's House, Central Coast NSW, followed by on location photos at Watkins Jetty, Long Jetty NSW.  The darkening skies added some nice light to the photos.  Therese and John then went on to have their reception at Manon's House and dance the night away.  Here are a few photos from their wedding day.

Your Bridal Bouquet - Artistique Photography by Nicolette

Your Bridal Bouquet

(Artistique Photography by Nicolette)

Your bridal bouquet is a very important aspect of your wedding day, colour and theming.  I (Artistique Photography by Nicolette) would like to give you some points to consider when selecting the flower type/colour and style of your bouquet.

It is important when you select your bouquet that you consider the following:

  • Does it hide the detail on your wedding gown?
  • How will you carry your bouquet?
  • How easy will your bouquet be to hand to bridesmaids during the ceremony and at other times?
  • Will your bouquet be heavy?
  • Will it flatter your wedding gown?
  • Will it make you sneeze (if you suffer from hayfever, this is an important point to consider) or your bridal party!

I have compiled the following list of popular bridal flowers, their meaning and availability:

  • Tulips - Signifies elegance. (not available Dec/Jan)
  • Orchids - Signifies sensuality.  (available all year)
  • Pink Roses - Signifies I adore you.
  • White Roses - Signifies purity.
  • Red Roses - Signifies I love you.  (roses available all year)
  • Ivy - signifies good luck. (available all year)
  • Arum Lilies - Signifies Purity (available Aug/Sept)
  • Iris - Magestic - (not available Dec/Jan)
  • Gerberas - Signifies Admiration. (available all year)
  • Freesias - Signifies Sweetness. (available all year)

There are of course different styles of bridal bouquets and you need to consider whether you would like a cascading soft / gentle bouquet for a traditional romantic wedding or something bright and textured for passion.  Also available and popular in bouquets today are succulents, twigs, vines and even driftwood for that earthy dramatic beach or garden wedding.  There are also "forever" bouquets available.

I can put you in touch with some very artistic florists on the Central Coast NSW and Artistique Photography by Nicolette will help you link with other wedding professionals on the Central Coast, should you need it.

Importance of Booking a Professional Photographer - Artistique Photography by Nicolette

Importance of Booking a Professional Photographer

(Artistique Photography by Nicolette)

With all the digital cameras on the market these days and perhaps a family member has the latest, it's very tempting for you to have them photograph your wedding for you, but - it's not the camera that takes the photos, it's the person behind the camera lens!  Also, your family member wants to enjoy themselves at your wedding and there will be missed photo opportunities while they are interacting with guests and enjoying the celebration.

Only a Professional Photographer has the skills to work behind the lens and also in front of the lens, arranging the bride and groom, wedding party, family and guests, resulting in capturing beautiful memories of your wedding day.

Here are some important things to consider when selecting your Professional Photographer:

Be sure to choose your Professional Photographer yourself, don't let friends or family            members do this for you.  I (Artistique Photography by Nicolette) ask my bride and groom lots of questions at the initial meeting so I get a clear indication of what they have in mind for their wedding day, I ask my bride and groom if they have any questions, what they have in mind etc.

Make sure you are clear about what the Professional Photographer's packages include.  I go over everything with my bride and groom and indicate what is covered in their package:
  • A 1-1.5hr Engagement Photo Shoot (pre wedding shoot) with all images professionally edited and onto a CD (approx. 80 images) at a venue on the Central Coast NSW of their choice.
  • Selection of coloured wedding umbrellas for bride and groom to use.
  • Images of wedding photographs professionally edited (some reproduced in black and white) of wedding day.
  • A photographer who is relaxed, has a sense of humour and a passion for capturing those special memories of the wedding day.

It is also important that you know who will be capturing your wedding day for you.  I always say to my bride and groom at the wedding meeting that I (Artistique Photography by Nicolette) will capture their wedding for them, but if due to any unforseen circumstance, I am unable to, I will let them know asap and offer refund of any money paid and suggest another photographer with similar style to myself.  That hasn't happened and let's hope it never will!

Many Studios will employ casual staff which gives you no guarantee as to who will be capturing your wedding for you.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about the importance of booking a Professional Photographer and Artistique Photography by Nicolette prides itself in being very professional in all respects of photography.

Accessories and Detailed Photos - Artistique Photography by Nicolette

ACCESSORIES and DETAILED PHOTOS

(Artistique Photography by Nicolette)

I really enjoy attention to detail in my wedding photography, whether it is the rings, bouquets, shoes, wedding dress detail.  I thought I would show you a selection of some of my detailed photos/accessories.  One of the best parts of the wedding day for me as a wedding photographer, is to capture the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready.  I love the excitement, anticipation, emotion and I also get to take these detailed shots.

Wedding at Greenway Gardens

Shelley and Daniel chose the beautiful Greenway Gardens, Central Coast, for their wedding but the torrential rain didn't ease up all day and fortunately their planned garden ceremony was able to take place in the little Chapel.  We did manage to sneak a couple of outdoor photos under umbrellas though, but the weather certainly didn't dampen the spirit of the day.  Here are a few photos from their wedding day.
